Eyelines'

Eyelines’ are extremely important in establishing what the character is seeing. This is a helpful insight into the characters view of the world. 
An ‘eyeline match’ is a film technique that starts with the character looking at something, for example below on the left, with Jack & Rose from titanic, this is  followed by a camera cut to the object or person they were looking at, and then we as an audience see from their point of view.
 So an example of the cut would be on the image below on the right, we see a number of shot's from both Rose's perspective and Jack's. (Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.)
